Welcome to our Parish Web Page. Saint Patrick’s is a great community of faith and service with an enviable history and a real family spirit. We sit atop one of the highest hills in Glen Cove at the intersection of two of the busiest streets in our small city. The hill is such a feature of our parish identity that most of the parishioners simply talk about as the Hill or stopping in to see what’s new “on the hill.” So welcome to our “cyber-hill!” St. Patrick’s is the oldest parish in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, founded in 1856 when the first resident pastor, Fr. Kelly arrived by horse and steamship to set up a permanent Catholic presence in a city known for its mansions and wealthy estates. For more about the history of our parish, please go to our Parish History page. Now, one hundred fifty years later, we are building again, but this time in cyberspace as we build this site to the glory of God and to proclaim his Gospel in every means available. Our parish now reflects the variety and beauty of the population of our city and each new wave of immigrants have become apart of our identity: Polish, Italian, Latino, Filipino, African American and West Indian, Ukrainian, and many others: a mosaic of God’s creation singing a harmony of praise. If you are nearby, please visit us in person. If you are looking for a Church home, please join us. We are a sacramental community rooted in Sacred Scriptures, faithful to God’s Word; profoundly grateful to be part of a Church that stretches back directly to Jesus in an unbroken line of over 2000 years of lived discipleship; obedient to the Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI; collaborating in ministry, obedience and respect with our shepherd, the Bishop of Rockville Centre, William F. Murphy; living out Jesus’ call to stewardship of time, talent and treasure; committed to service of the poor and marginalized; proud to proclaim the Gospel of Life and our Respect for Life at every level; a community that enjoys teaching, preaching, celebrating and sanctifying. Join us! Praise God and put Him first in all things! Welcome to the Hill!
